Most people sew their own slip covers. For them, this is the best way to get fabrics that easily match the decor of the room. This is also one of the most affordable ways to make sure that the covers fit perfectly unto the furniture, especially if you consider the fact that custom made covers are extremely pricey. Unfortunately, not all of us can sew, and many people find the thought of sewing for such a large piece of furniture too overwhelming.
The good news is that you can make no-sew slip covers for your couch. And you can make these very easily too. Here are some tips how.
Bath Sheets Oversized
1. Choose fitted bed sheets or sheets with elasticized hems. If you can find large enough bed sheets, you can cover your entire couch very easily. The fitted hems of the sheets would make it easy for you to tuck in the excess fabrics out of site. Afterwards, you can simply fold in any loose fabrics into the natural contours and recesses of the couch. If you can buy matching sheets with pillow cases, you can even cover some of the cushions as well. Try to buy sheets that either matches or contrasts with the room's decor for a good effect.
2. You can choose yards of loose fabric as well. Loose fabrics are great if you have an oversized piece of furniture, or if your couch has an unusual shape or dimension. Try to choose the heavier fabrics or those with thicker constitutions so these do not easily slip off your couch whenever you use it. You can tuck the excess fabrics out of sight using safety pins. If you have the time, you might also want to use adhesive Velcro on the more problematic areas such as the back and underside of the couch or the skirt of the slip covers.
